False Face Society performed extensively in Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and Richmond and appeared on the same bill with acts as diverse as Fugazi, Eek-a-Mouse, Alice Donut, Malathini & the Mahotella Queens, and Crash Worship.

It's recorded output was sadly minimal:  a self-titled six-song 30 minute cassette and a single, "Two Tones" on Simple Machines' vinyl compilation, Neapolitan Metropolitan

FFS's members have all remained active musicians:

Vocalist Shirlé Hale was a founding member of Womyn Of  Destruction (aka W.O.D.), Jag, and Gerty, and is currently performing as vocalist / guitarist / bassist / keyboardist in Durham North Carolina based punk-pop-rockers The Ex-Members.

Guitarist Warren Boes currently works as a freelance guitarist and instructor, and performs regularly with Baltimore's premier funk outfit, All Mighty Senators.

Guitarist Sheryl Bailey lives in New York City and performs jazz and fusion with David Krakauer, Richard Bona and as leader of her own group.  She also teaches at Berklee College of Music in Boston Massachusets.

Drummer Ann Hairston has performed as a cast member in "Stomp", the long-running percussion show in New York and has toured with Luscious Jackson & N'dea Davenport among others.  She currently lives in New York working as a drummer, bassist and guitarist, electronic music producer and dj with releases on Wave Records.

Percussionist Rob White is active D.C.'s Latin Jazz scene and has performed with The Jerry Gordon Quintet and Las Olas Brass Band among many others.

Bassist Steven Berson lives in New York City working as a mastering engineer at his own studio. Total Sonic Media, and performs as a cellist with alternative string quartet Invert.
False Face Society was a band based in Baltimore, Maryland and Washington D.C. and active between 1989 and 1991.

It was a unique combination of individuals: male and female, black and white, straight and gay.   The music it made reflected this diversity: funk, punk, ancient rhythms, Eastern scales, odd-times, straight-on grooves, politicized lyrics and screaming guitars all made their appearances in FFS's songs.  This diversity also led to FFS's premature demise: the same month False Face Society earned a mention in Details magazine a key member announced his departure in order to pursue other musical outlets.

In Novemeber 1991 FFS performed its last shows at two venues which are also sadly defunct:  d.c. space in D.C. and The Hour Haus in Baltimore.  In December 1996 FFS made one final reunion appearance in celebration of bassist Steve Berson's 30th Birthday at the appropriately named Baltimore club, Memory Lane.
